License and access permit
Carry a valid Arkansas hunting license unless exempt and meet hunter education and youth supervision rules. AGFC eliminated the WMA General Use Permit for 2026–27. A valid Arkansas hunting license also satisfies the new Wildlife Management Area Conservation Pass exemption.
When you can go
2026–27 squirrel: May 15, 2026–February 28, 2027, daily limit 12. Rabbit: September 1, 2026–February 28, 2027, daily limit eight.
Area restrictions
Wrape Plantation Waterfowl Rest Area and Halowell Reservoir are closed November 1–February 15. Government Cypress Tract is walk-in only. Check current waterfowl-season access and boating restrictions.
Plan with the official agency
The 2026–27 property page lists ordinary squirrel and rabbit seasons with no draw or quota permit for those species. AGFC licensing is purchased directly; this does not apply to the area’s limited big-game hunts.
No lottery is required for the described access and species. Other hunts on the same property may require a drawing. Check current seasons, closures, check-in and capacity before traveling; open access does not reserve an exclusive spot.
Agency sources reviewed 2026-10-07. AGFC 2026–27 area seasons reviewed alongside https://www.agfc.com/regulations/new-this-year/ and https://www.agfc.com/resources/licensing/. Shared public access; a catch or exclusive access is not reserved. Public entry is arranged with the agency, with no Back40 booking fee.
