- Financial incentive; rate not published: IRAP pays a yearly stipend for each enrolled activity; the amount varies by county, acreage, and activities and is not published as a uniform rate.
- Minimum acreage
- IRAP generally seeks approximately 40 acres of qualifying land; one-acre-plus ponds and qualifying river or stream access may be eligible under different site criteria.
- Agreement term
- IRAP lease agreements are four years, with payments made annually.
- Enrollment
- Accepting interest
Who may qualify: Owners of suitable Illinois land apply for one or more supported activities. IRAP reviews the form, visits the site, confirms eligibility, and prepares the lease.
Owner control: Owners choose the activities to offer. IDNR controls reservations or assignments, dates, times, capacity, signs, and participant waivers; the leased portion cannot be used by the owner during contracted activity windows, with safety closures coordinated through IRAP.
Official next step: Submit the IRAP landowner enrollment form; applications are accepted during the agreement year.
