Find the official Wyoming property record before asking to hunt.

Wyoming's Department of Revenue publishes a statewide ownership-parcel and tax-district viewer with parcel queries by owner name and account or parcel number.

A parcel, tax, or deed record is not permission to enter the land or proof that one named person controls every hunting right.

The Wyoming path

Use the record for orientation—not authorization.

Search the state viewer by parcel or owner, then use the official assessor directory to confirm the current county record and the authority of any prospective grantor. Obtain explicit permission before entering or hunting.

Administration
Mixed state and local
Record authority
The 23 county assessors maintain locally assessed property records; the Wyoming Department of Revenue Property Tax Division supports the statewide mass-appraisal and GIS systems.
Owner-name access
The reviewed official path displays an owner-name field.
Freshness
The viewer identifies its parcel and tax-district content as current as of January 1, 2026. Confirm later transfers or corrections with the county assessor.

What still needs checking

The state disclaims the viewer's reliability and directs users to primary sources. Map and assessment results do not prove title, surveyed boundaries, legal access, or hunting permission.

Official-use restriction: Use public owner-name results only for a limited, lawful permission request; do not bulk-copy, republish, or harass anyone identified in a record.

A current owner, co-owner, tenant, property manager, trust representative, or hunting-rights lessee may be the relevant decision-maker. Ask directly and do not treat silence, a map label, or a prior invitation as approval.

From record to respectful request

Do not turn public records into mass outreach.

Research one relevant property, use a lawful and respectful channel, explain the narrow hunt you want to discuss, and make “no” easy.

1. Recheck the property and county

Confirm that the record belongs to the parcel you meant to research and reopen the live source near the time of contact. Do not navigate by generalized tax-map lines in the field.

2. Ask who controls hunting access

A name or tax-mailing record can begin the inquiry; it cannot settle co-ownership, occupancy, management, an existing lease, or a separate transfer of hunting rights.

3. Define the exact request

Name the hunters, species, lawful method, dates, scouting, equipment, parking, entry, boundaries, guests, and retrieval plan. Do not enter first and ask later.

4. Use the official written record

Requirements vary. Open the Wyoming written-permission requirements, then confirm every current state, local, and property-specific rule and form.
